Sorry to make one of these threads but i haven't looked at of parts in years. current pc was built 6years ago and components are showing their age
Have a 1400-1600 budget but will spend less if y'all can find a build that will meet my needs.
I want to play fps games on high and stream. Dual 1080p monitors preferred.
Current has a i5 2500k and nvidia 970 and I get real bad fps drop if too much is happening on my screen at once in overwatch
I don't currently have an ssd and would like information on that too.
cheers

Just upgrade to 1080 and done. CPU is fine, OC for IPC increase.

I was thinking this, but the components are showing their age from a mechanical standpoint.
I think the original mobo wasn't very good and I definitely need a new HDD.
I'll do a littlw more research and see what's possible

That should not be happening to you on Overwatch. My GF runs Overwatch at 100 FPS with a 970. She has a newer CPU but something doesn't sound right.

Yeah Overwatch shouldn't be struggling on that build.

How much RAM do you have OP?
I was having Overwatch issues with a GTX 980. Would not go above 40 FPS.
I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of the game including the local settings, then did a clean install of the GPU driver and I was back to 140+fps

Ill check my driver's and make sure everything is good.
But like I said, some stuff is just old. Regardless, I definitely can't stream overwatch with that build without some tweaking.

To clarify, the fps drop is like this:
Everything is smooth unless zyrya or whatever her name is ults like 5 people, then they all ult, and mei ulti etc. I have to look away or its all choppy and I can't so shite

I have an OCd 3258 and 7950 right now (playing on medium settings), and I don't get less than 60 fps EVER in game

update: I lied, its a 760 not a 970
I knew it had a 7 in it
so I guess I should just pick up a new vc and move on

Not really. We have almost identical builds (my 7950 is basically equal to your 760).
Are you looking to play it fully maxed out graphically?
Edit: Just saw that you want to play at high and stream. I don't know how well Nvidia shadowplay works, but your CPU won't handle streaming very well

it does it reasonably well with OBS but the newer games give me a little trouble
but thats kinda why I wanted to start over and build a new pc
the one I have now was strong at the start but was built on a college budget, so I cut corners here and there
it originally had a 560ti, I've only upgraded once and that was to put the 760 in

Why does it matter if it's a full or mid ATX case?
If it supports ATX, Full ATX, eATX or mATX why does it matter?

ALWAYS start with the case. ITS THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT.

Just IN CASE others do not sense your surcasim I will point it out.

If I'm looking for a "silent" case, are the h440 and define r5 still the top ones?
