Best Antenna For Home Use

I am basically trying to receive all of the New Orleans stations. I have used the map on the FCC's website and it tells me that I am anywhere between 47 and 53 miles away from the various towers that I am trying to pick up from. I am currently using a Clearstream 60 mile indoor antenna upstairs pointed out of a window and it is not picking up very well. FOX is the most reliable station that I receive. ABC and NBC are hit and miss. CBS is nonexistent. I have looked at several antennas that claim to have longer distances. The two kinds that I have been looking at either have a 360 degree motor or they are the large antennas that are mounted on a pole outside. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just upgraded my antenna to the one in the link below. I'm slightly closer than you and I was having trouble, particularly with CBS. I have it in my attic pointed as accurately as I can possibly have it and it is very reliable so far. Note that this seems to be a very directional antenna, at least from my location.

If you put it in your attic, did you run the cable in the wall or have some type of central connection in the attic?

It's not in the attic. It's in my upstairs bedroom pointing out one of my windows. I was testing it to see what kind of signal I would get. I just think the antenna isn't strong enough coupled with the distance I'm trying to pick up from.

Not sure if meant for the OP, but the coax in the house already ran to the attic from my different rooms and I used one of these to split the signal and amplify it

Previously those coax runs were carrying my directv.
I had a separate cable line run for my internet.

The house has coax ran to all the rooms with the main being outside so ultimately I know I'll setup the antenna outside so all TV's can run off the same antenna. I just hooked this antenna up in the upstairs bedroom to see how much we would pick up. My wife bought a amplifier over the weekend and when we connected it, we were getting less channels than before.

Yea, that's my problem. I need a separate cable run for my internet. Did the cable company do that for you?

We just recently purchased our house and the cable company has to construct our internet for charter. I plan on having them hardwire my living room TV and run wifi upstairs for all the bedrooms. I just don't trust the wifi for a two story house. If the wifi picks up downstairs then fine but my big TV will be hard wired.

Yea I had setup DirecTV first before I called the cable company to force their hand and they ran a separate line for me.

I decided to buy this one and if it doesn't work then I think I'm just going to go with one of the big 80's style antennas. Does anyone have any experience with this particular antenna?

I've read that your tv tuner plays a role in how many channels you can catch. I have a Sony and my father has a Samsung. We are both the same distance (mile or two) from NOLA and I catch more channels than him. He has a bigger antenna, booster and all that jazz.

i have what looks to be a $15 knock off of that one. it's not amplified or anything though. it works fine. i used compass app on iphone to point in proper direction and mounted it in my attic. when cable goes out (all too often) i just go up there and switch the line from the splitter to the antenna. it picks up all the big networks and about 10-15 other random channels that i have never watched.
