I'mma have to pass on all that shite. I don't want anyone sitting in my car without my explicit knowledge and approval. Too much risk.
Musk is dreaming, designing, and building for a perfect world with good people. We live in a flawed world with a society that is morally questionable at best almost.
The end goal is that a lot fewer people own cars. And those that do, probably don't see them as "their" cars, but rather their contribution to the fleet. They make a little money on the side, and perhaps they get some other incentives for "buying into" the fleet.
I'm just speculating, but I think the end goal is kind of like an global autonomous uber set up. When you want a car, you just summon it and it comes and picks you up. Think of it as you're paying for access to transportation, rather than buying a piece of machinery that is yours and yours alone. Of course, this kind of set up in decades away, but I think that's the end goal. Lower costs of "ownership" and a LOT less cars out there because cars will be MUCH more efficiently utilized, thus no need for the volume of cars we have today.

I don't know about y'all, but I love driving.
Sure, I don't like it at rush hour after work, but other than that, I usually find some pleasure in driving around, even on road trips.
I really hope they never force us to have self-driving cars, but I doubt they will. I always want the option to drive.
