Josh Gordon was a top 5-10 wr in the NFL and is pissing it away. Manziel is pissing away being a career backup.
I'm not talking about an NFL career. Manziel had the potential to be like Tebow. Not enough talent, but the ability to become hugely successful.

That ship has sailed, brochacho.

Has there ever been a guy piss away so much?
What did the Cleveland Browns, or any other pro team, see in this guy ? He's short, has no arm, and was a total frick up while in college. I said this while in college and was astounded by the teams that considered this guy in the draft. No way was this guy ever going to be a starting QB, with any long term success, in the NFL.

I know. That's the point.

My point is that when you take an a-hole like Manziel and throw him into a public setting with alcohol,

That is you partially excusing his behavior. I know you can see that.
That is me asking if you're surprised when you read a story like this when it involves Manziel, alcohol, and other humans. He is an a-hole who is probably ridiculed by other drunken assholes every time he is out. The fact that he fights some of these drunken assholes shouldn't be a surprise since Manziel is, in fact, a drunken a-hole himself.

Yeah no doubt. He has brought this all on himself.

I'm not surprised by anything that frick up does.

That's his own doing. At some point that will click for you, well maybe not.

And he has no one to blame but himself. You don't need to put his frick ups into context. They are his and his alone. If it were an isolated incident, perhaps. But he's got a long history of frick ups that are all of his own doing. If you'd really like to not muck up the MSB, admit to that and we can move on.
ETA: Admit it without any qualifiers.

That he is a frick up? Sure, when have I argued otherwise?

If you can't see your excuses for Manziel in your original post, I'm not sure what to tell you.
quote:
Someone like Manziel or Draymond Greene probably has to deal with an inordinate amount of drunken assholes every time they go in public.
That isn't giving them a pass, because they seem like whole-hearted assholes, but I'm always a little surprised this doesn't happen on a more regular basis with people like them.
Then following it up with
quote:
Every time he retaliates he is in the wrong, but I'm sure it is relentless for someone like him.
That is you making excuses. All I wanted was for you to just once stop with the excuses for the frick ups (both in sports and on the OT), but you seem totally incapable.

he was at a rehearsal dinner for a wedding, and this was another guest.

He attracts that, but it's his own creation.
If he truly wants to turn it around, he has to make wholesale changes. Places he goes, people he hangs with, everything. If it's just "I'll just have 3 drinks tonight instead of my usual 10....", nothing will change.

Sigh.
I never thought I'd one day find myself being accused of making excuses for Johnny Manziel, but here we are. If/when guys like him - public villains - go out, I'm sure they're badgered relentlessly. I'm not suggesting it is unwarranted or anyone's fault but their own, but I'm sure it happens all the time. The fact that a hothead like Manziel doesn't get in more physical altercations as a result is a little surprising to me.
If you read that as an excuse, I'm sorry.

You're doing it again. Jesus.

Still doing it.

Still doing it. In fact, now you're basically implying he's better at avoiding conflict than you'd expect.

I'm sorry you can't see it. It's pretty obvious.

Yea he has no shot at turning his life around by remaining in the public eye. His image is obliterated. I don't believe he really cares in the first place, but if he did, he needs to disappear for a while.

That is you making excuses.
In that sense he is not making excuses for JFF, but only saying JFF might not be at fault with every incident.
