MTV was great when they only played music videos in the 80's. It's sucked since the advent of reality TV.
The first year it came out coincided with the first year cable was available in my dorm room. Left it on all day and night.
Their own ads were just about the only ads they had.
Video Killed the Radio Star, Mexican Radio, Brass in Pocket, Take it on the Run and then that commercial.

Eh. I want to agree with you in theory, but MTV has had some really solid shows though. Real World, Challenges, shite like that. Also some super awful ones too, but I do enjoy some of their shows sometimes.
I do wish they would've never completely gone away from videos though.

They also played concerts, that is the 1st place I saw SRV and it was marvelous.

Remember when it first came on. I had no idea, just flipping the channels and came across it. I don't think I changed the channel for weeks.
