They deserve more pay. Even before they did but especially when having to put up with this shite. The good thing about that is that once you pay them more you can start to generate better candidates and have higher expectations for the officers.

This has always been my thought. Its way state troopers are usually more professional. More stringent hiring and they get paid the most.

Uhhh No, this is the wrong way to go about this and a huge part of the problem. The job should have merit pay and not civil service.

Less total but higher quality officers can be accomplished for relatively the same amount of money. Holding the bad apples accountable and rewarding the good would create monumental changes.
