Rental cars have a different colored licence plate from the locals. The locals will give an extra wide berth when they notice the plate.

Absolutely.
Haven't been in over 20 years, so don't remember much, but I think we went on every trip.
Used to go almost every year, since my Mom is a flight attendant, and grandmother had a condo on 7 mile.
Go snorkeling, of if you dive, do that.
