I can't wait for the Half in the Bag review for this. Sounds like it could be the most trashed movie since "Jack and Jill".
Won't be as universally hated. As I was told yesterday - the only reason this movie is being criticized is because of implicit misogyny. There will be plenty of reviewers that give it glowing reviews simply because they feel this movie is needed.

I predict it will have a higher rottentomatoes rating than Batman vs superman.....but not by much

And not pro women, just anti-men.
Which I think in a lot of ways is even more demeaning to a female audience, that a studio has to guess - and guess wrong - what a female audience wants to see. I don't think women movie-goers want to see every male character in a film shite on any more than any male movie-goer wants to see the same treatment of female characters. It's insulting to the intelligence of the audience that the studio is claiming to understand and want to appeal to.

Which would be ignoring the biggest reason why this movie is catching so much flak (and attention): it's a remake of a beloved 80's franchise that was famous for its all male cast (which, I might add, had a big name female lead in Sigourney Weaver in a respectable, positive role). If you want to make an all-female movie that bashes men, go for it. But don't drag a franchise that didn't need a reboot to begin with into the political message.

I think you don't understand what he means by "the cast in on the joke"

I find Melissa McCarthy hysterical in Bridemaids, Heat, and Spy, all of her previous collaborations with Paul Feig. So I really wanted to like this movie. But the first trailer just ruined me on it, primarily due to Leslie Jones. Then the reaction by liberals to the genuine negative criticism of the trailers further ruined me on it. So now I want this movie to fail so badly that everyone involved, except for Chris Hemsworth, sees their career ruined. I want this to be to those involved what Cut Throat Island was to Gena Davis (destroyed her career permanently - look it up).

Why in the world would this movie be "needed?!"

The original was just naturally funny from interactions between the characters. It looks like this one is all slapstick bullshite, which is why it probably sucks even it was an all male cast it would suck.

Can't wait for more reviews

Agreed. But the more trailers you watched the more you started to dread this movie.
I don't have a problem with an all female cast Ghostbuster's remake. No worries there. But this just looks bad. Horrifyingly so. You don't even have that the easy friendship that Poehler and Fey could bring to the movie.

Leslie Jones might be the worst actor of all time

Of course not. They marry us. And are our partners and I do believe, like in real life, women like to see men as strong figures in film being a man.
Women love old films with the strong male character...Bogey, Wayne, etc. And women loved Sean Connery because of Bond.
It's a fringe element that thinks women like seeing men emasculated.

I hope this movie tanks so hard

Who actually thought this movie was going to be good other than flannel wearing donkeys?

Well, that review was both satisfying and a little infuriating.

How much did they spend on this thing? The studio must be concerned about getting their money back.

The budget was apparently 154 million. But I don't know if that includes the advertising budget.
I've also read that Amy Pascal originally greenlit 169 million but that was before she got canned.

I think a lot of reviewers will give it a pass. Many have an agenda and will refuse to pick it apart.
