Why do people keep repeating this myth?
If you go back and look at all the players drafted with the picks traded, Williams is very well worth it. Someone did an article showing the best players selected within five picks of each pick, and the saints still came out OK.
It's sensationalized that the team traded "their entire draft for one player".

You'd expect more than 3 years of good production from the #5 pick.

If we don't trade we could've drafted Jevon Kearse in 1999 and Jamal Lewis in 2000. No way you can say Ricky was better for the Saints than that would've been.
