Look up the average scoring drive length. Our Defense and ST were so insanely efficient in 2011 it made our offense much, much more effective. We had one of the lowest average scoring drive yardage lengths in NCAA History that year.

It's an arcane stat that even I don't follow closely, but its a metric that allows you to find the "hidden yardage," that's generated by an efficient defense and a ST that can flip field for you.

Saying all that, the offense still wasn't abysmal, it was just average AF. I will say the defense and special teams was unreal that year though. We had 9 non offensive scoring TDs in 14 games. That was basically a non offensive scoring TD in every other game.

Agreed, but starting your drive at midfield only gets you so far. Once we moved the ball inside the 20, we were scoring touchdowns like 80% of the time, or something close to that. I dont have the stat in front of me.
