I thought that with the late season situation in 15' and the momentum from the bowl game and subsequent position coaching hires that at the very least they would have worked on a 2 yr extension

Yep, he was gone, and knew it. In fact, was told his job was on the line prior to end of season. A fricking extension ? Will everybody be happy with another 3 or 4 loss season ?
