NEW YORK (AP) — The Atlanta Braves are scheduled to open SunTrust Park on April 13 against the San Diego Padres, according to a copy of the team's preliminary schedule obtained by The Associated Press.
The 2017 schedule, which is tentative and subject to change, has the Braves opening the season with a three-game series at the New York Mets on April 3, then going to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a three-game series. Atlanta also has a two-game series at the Miami Marlins before heading home for the Thursday opener against the Padres, the start of a four-game series.
Teams opening new ballparks often host exhibition games at the new stadiums before opening day, and it is possible the Braves could schedule some at SunTrust ahead of the regular season.
Braves officials declined comment on the schedule, since it is not yet official.
"It might be more real when the year is over and you start to look forward to everything and start processing things for the new year. You get going and get excited to start a new year." Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said Wednesday.
Atlanta is in its 20th and final season at Turner Field, which was built for the 1996 Olympics and then converted for baseball use. Plans for the new ballpark, in a northwest suburb, were announced in November 2013.

about 500 yards outside the perimeter.
I guess it technically is in a suburb, but the way Atlanta has grown, it's practically in town.
I was over there yesterday. Traffic was a cluster at 1130 in the morning. Hopefully they can get the highway work done by next April.
Not being an engineer, I can't predict how long that sort of thing takes, but it looked like longer than 10 months to me.

Opening on my birthday. Guess I have to go now. Probably have to take a half day off of work just to make sure I can get there for game time.
Yeah, I've been up in Cobb a few times over the last few days and the spot on 285 between S Cobb Dr and the I-75 interchange has been a disaster every time. Can only imagine when there's actual traffic (I've been going outside of rush hour).

I wouldn't want to go on Opening Day. I feel like it is going to be a total clusterfrick with traffic at first.

I'll stay in Savannah actually.
Good to see that your level of contribution is at its usual low.

Good to see that you still let ball busting turn you into a little bitch

Hoping to move back to Atlanta in September. Acworth anyway. Looking forward to going to games on a regular basis again. It's going to be a clusterfrick there though.

So it doesn't work both ways? I should have put the smiley guy to be clearer.

I'm for that.
How about a truce and I assume you are ball bustin' and you assume I'm not complaining. Or call me out and I will then admit I'm complaining.

Like, now that suntrust will exist. Really poor communication on my part
