damn that sucks , Rob was arguably one of the best stand up bass players around. You could feel the sounds almost as if his bass was talking to you.
back in 1990, I followed the Dead for 6 shows on the Without a Net Tour. Spring of 1991
rolled around and I needed my annual fix as a good friend told me about Weir and Wasserman doing an acoustical set of shows. We left Lafayette on a Saturday as I had just finished finals at USL. We saw back to back to back shows at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, The Unicorn in Houston, and the Opera House in ATX.
The HOU show was on a Monday afternoon and maybe had 300 people in attendance. Security was very laxed as we got to go backstage and hang out with Weir and Wasserman who signed a playbill. Still have it somewhere amongst my music memorabilia. I'll never forget the Unicorn as I believe it was an old abandoned Canal Villere grocery store ?? where promoters booked concerts. It was GA , as we sat center stage, 2nd row

Wow. What a shocker. I hadn't even heard he was sick. RIP Rob.
I saw Bob & Rob acoustic a few times and saw him with Ratdog a handful of times. If you've never heard his Duets album then you should check it out. It's excellent.
