SUB - I'm like the other guy who stated "lesson learned". His bad work has nothing to with it because he was trying but you terminated the contract which I assume means you fired him. If I hire someone to do a 100 foot fence and they do the fence but it looks like crap, I still have to pay them. Shoddy work or not, I hired them and they built the fence. Trust me, I've seen it all and heard it all when it comes to contractors. Learn from it and move on. It was YOUR decision to hire this guy so YOU must accept that. Live and learn my brother. Live and learn.

The only satisfaction you will get is if the local D.A agrees to press charges

bad advice --- do not heed.
Only a fool pays for bad work.
the money is the power, with a legit contract and/or scope of work --- you can withhold final payment if you are not satisfied. I do this all the time. Well, I don't have to anymore because my contractors don't even bother to ask for payment ---- they ask if I am SATISFIED......
quick test -- if you are paying your cable company $100 per month, but your TV only works half the time, and when it does work --- it looks bad (poor quality work)
do you pay your bill in full every month while accepting substandard service? It certainly sounds like it.
Me ---- I call, get credits for days, demand a supervisor is out here and get my shite running ASAP, go ahead and upgrade my internet speed - for free, and shite - throw in Sunday ticket while your at it.

What the? No you don't. Bad advice.
You give them the chance to correct it to your satisfaction or you bring in someone who can finish it correctly and pay the guy for materials maybe. But never pay for something in full that doesn't meet your satisfaction or the designers.
