I believe there is a media push to create a frenzy, which we've seen a little of so far, during the Republican nomination. I believe media powers and government "elites" are far more in collusion than most people can see.

99% of the decisions that drive this country are done behind closed doors. We've been given the illusion of vote (in national elections)

This is a fairly mainstream theory, though it once lived in the shadows occupied by conspiracy types. After the things that have occurred this election cycle, I think many eyes have been opened. Martial law will become more common when people become conditioned to accepting "only the federal government can keep them safe." The Patriot Act was a huge step in that direction.

If voting made any difference, they wouldn't let us do it.
