I went to High School with a guy who was a staunch conservative, right brain kind of guy. He was working on Wall Street and in NY one night and slipped on some ice and cracked his skull on a metal pipe. They thought he was gonna die, but he pulled through.

A year later, he was totally different. He became really arts oriented, broke up with his girlfriend, and never went back to Wall Street. A year after that, he came out as gay. Another year later and he was living in L.A. and acting in theatre.

Now, he's a famous movie director and is a borderline household name. Completely different guy. His brain totally rewired itself.
