re: Do you believe in astrology/zodiac signs?

Astrology is a good exercise in contrasting knowledge with garbage. Specifically, focus on "mechanism." How does the alignment of the stars and planets at birth cause a person to have certain personality traits? Until you can explain that mechanism, or at least have some sound statistical studies that show a strong correlation of certain traits to certain stellar/planetary alignments, you don't really have a reasonable basis for believing that it can.

Contrast astrology with something like Darwinian evolution, which is well understood and whose genetic mechanism is also now pretty well understood even though it wasn't at the time that that theory of speciation was proposed. There is just no plausible theory underlying astrology's supposed correlation of personality traits to planetary/stellar alignments.
