Did he get permission from Alleva to interview with Texas?

Cain gave him the go ahead

ETA: do we know for sure that he interviewed or wad that just speculation? I would hope that he got permission from his boss first if he did

It is the part of the day that starts after noon, not midnight. Not much of a debate to be had, really. It is pretty plain to see. I hope you win the debate.

I bet that was hilarious in your head when you first thought about it.

PM wanted Alleva to know about the interview so as to get a favorable contract renewal.

Miles did the same thing.

Some contracts require the school give permission before a coach goes on interviews.

And to think we came that close to unloading both of these liabilities in the past few months. Make me AD and I could turn the LSU Titanic around on a dime.

Is it only at LSU that NC coaches, who still recruit and still win, can be labeled "liabilities" by team "fans"??

Like I said hire me, with no previous AD experience, and I could do no worse.

Anyone comparing LSU sports to the " Titanic", needs sports mental health treatment for their sports delusional thought process. imo

Just cause baseball didn't reach the CWS after replacing 8 starters, it doesn't follow that the program is " Titanic" like. Just cause football failed to have another 10 win season or win the west, it doesn't follow that the program is " Titanic" like. Well , not in the mind of any reasonable sports fan.

Basketball? What in the hell is LSU doing hiring a semi successful Sunbelt basketball coach to revitalize our program? Another thing, since when has LSU basketball become too good to play in the NIT?

In all liklihood, Texas and Arkansas contacted Alleva themselves.

if you were looking at a new opportunity you would ask for permission?

He was given permission from LSU to interview. It was just a ploy to get more money from LSU. Like the whole Miles to Michigan fiasco a few years ago. Miles got more money out of the situation.

really? why don't you enlighten us, oh zen master?

just fire everybody, right? my prediction is that if you were AD we'd have 4 or 5 ex coaches on the payroll and you'd have to settle for your tenth choice to replace them and at an inflated price.

whether you want to admit it or not, les miles and paul mainieri are two of the best in the business. both have won a Natty and both have competed for more. there are few, very few, coaches in either sport that can do that. and it would be damn nigh impossible to lure them here to LSU. if you know anything about contracts and I suspect you don't.
