The King Crimson color albums are almost pop PROG. Belew was the perfect vocalist for that era imo - very accessible to discriminating taste.

Underrated: Meat Puppets. They should've had Nirvana's place in history; they're an obvious influence and, in my opinion, much, much more creative than Nirvana. And I'm a Nirvana fan.
That said, I'm glad in a way that the Pups have never achieved arena-headliner fame. I get the feeling that a lot of their creative power is somehow rooted in their (relative) obscurity.

(Captain Beyond - complex instrumentation)
Beat me to it - superior musicians coupled with powerful arrangements. The first two albums are stellar. All star lineup

Did they have a drummer?
