I mean, the 27th pick this year will be making 1 percent of your cap in 2017, 2018, etc

To put it in perspective, that is about half of what a min contract took up in past years.

If that guy hits, you are way ahead of the curve. Even if that guy becomes a Norman Powell, solid 8th man type, you are underpaying him by 500% or more of current market value. And you have him for 4-5 years locked in at that price unless he hits the starters criteria, in which case he makes a little more but you would happily pay 3 percent of your cap to a guy starting or playing 2000 mins per year
