Good enough speed to stream on Kodi.

So I currently have Time Warner 50 up and 10 down plan and according to speed test I'm getting 51 up and 6 down but I can't seem to ever stream the game without it buffering 90% of the time. I would think 50 mbps would be more than capable of streaming media. Anyone knows what could be wrong?

You'll be fine

1/10 of that should be able have a decent stream if it's consistent. It could be a hardware problem or issues with the content provider.

Are you using a crappy fire stick?

No the fire tv box. I mostly try the pro sports add-on. I thought 50 would be more than enough but it rarely plays even with the router 3 feet away from the fire tv. At first I thought I wasn't getting the speed I was paying for but speedtest (if its reliable) says I am.

It's not your internet most likely. It's the feed.

There are some setting you can change that might help. I had issues with my kodi/firebox at first even with 200/20 but it's good now. Google it

Anything special you did or did it sort itself out?

I changed some setting. I forget exact location. Mine was on a fire tv box so I googled buffering issues kodi firebox.

Kodi is like a female on her period, sometimes it works great and sometimes it works like crap.

Been using Kodi/XBMC for almost 15 years and it runs flawlessly 99% of the time. Addons are hit and miss, but that's not Kodi.
To the OP:
10Mb/s down is more than enough to stream HD content. You said you had 50Mb/s up, but I think you mean 50 down...and that is more than enough to stream 4K, so your bandwidth is not the issue.
Could be:
1. server traffic/issues
2. buffer settings (check google for advancedsettings.xml optimization).
3. add-on issues
4. sharing bandwidth with family/friends/leeches

If it's 3 feet away run a network cable, if it's still slow it is the feed not your connection. I have 75 down and can run multiple (3+) streams at the same time.

Yes. Sorry I meant 50 down. Thanks for the replys. I'm starting to think it's the streams. Watching NHL tonight with no problems.

I watched Thor this evening and it was like pulling teeth but I'm guessing it might have been the provider? It would start to lock up so I'd have to pause for a bit then could watch some more.

If you're talking about streaming the LSU game on WatchESPN, I think its Watchespn thats the problem. I've tried it at a few different houses and got the same result with lots of buffering.

There's usually at least 10 streams of it. If its buffering, pick another doofus.

I was using more power in an effort to have 5.1 sound and 1080 so only one stream. The others so far in it have been good.

Is your router providing ethernet? If so, just plug in a cable. Problem likely solved.

Strangely enough, that seems to make it worse.
