So why not bat Pap 9th? If anyone needs the help of seeing better pitches, it is him.

The entire reasoning behind putting a 2nd leadoff in the 9 hole is to turn the lineup over with runners on base for the top.

You don't like it and I get that. However, it's worked, as evidenced by LSU's lead-off hitter only having 2 fewer RBI than the 3 hole. Not to mention the 2 hole, which traditionally is used to move runners, not score them, having 30+ RBi as well.

Guess what. You can get the same effect by, wait for it, having that guy bat ahead of your RBI producers. He gets more ABs and everyone drives in more runs. That's how lineup construction works.

They've run the numbers. "Second leadoff" (which doesn't even make sense as a term) is complete bullshite.

I understand our leadoff batter has alot or RBI's because of this. In that case, then why do you want Pap 8th? Put a better on base percentage guy in the 9th spot then so Duplantis could get even more RBI opportunities. The leadoff guy is suppose to get on base period. Driving in runs in for the 3,4 and 5 guys. No reason to recreate the wheel. Bottom line, you want your best hitters to have the most at bats throughout the year. Freeman batting 9th does not allow this to happen.
