Just getting into salt water fishing. Bought a 2010 Nautic Star 1810 with a 115 Yamaha about 2 weeks ago. I'm looking to get a couple of nice rod and reels. Any suggestions? I'll mostly be fishing the Big Lake and Vermillion Bay area.

I mostly use spinning reels at Big Lake.
Some are freshwater reels I just clean them under the shower when I get home.
I like medium rods to make the baits move better.

Shimano spinning reels (model depends on how much you want to spend)
Falcon Coastal rods

I agree with this. My suggestion would be to have at least one rod with a spinning reel set up to use a popping cork. (Easier to cast into the wind), and one rod with a casting reel for throwing jig heads, and Carolina rigs. I personally prefer Falcon rods, 7' long in medium action.

If money weren't an object I would look at shimano stradics with whatever rod I liked the best. (there are tons of great brands loomis, falcon, st. croix....)
