This is one of my favorites of his. That 5:10 mark
I read once a while back that he created that style to sound like drums being played on a record playing backwards.

Yeah, he goes full Meshuggah mode there for a few seconds. He does the same type of thing in this performance of Futile. LINK
If you haven't already, check out the band OSI. Mike Portnoy plays on the first two albums and Gavin Harrison plays on the next two. Really great groovy drumming on each album.
