I'm gonna be disappointed if they don't get Pogba because I think he's exactly the type of elite player they need to get back to being a serious contender.
And even though I've advocated the position of "spend whatever, it ain't my money," there comes a point where the asking price is going to be too unrealistic.

Yea it's just not feasible for anyone to spend that match money.
Juve is clearly pissed about Morata and are just saying frick it.
Probably one last chance to win it for Giggi.

But at the same time, it's not like this is FIFA. With all the info being leaked, they're obviously listening to offers. If they really didn't wanna sell they would've told United to frick off and you wouldn't have heard much else. This is all so confusing

I don't think Pogba is the difference in them challenging... Higuain would be a huge upgrade over Morata (today)...
But if they don't need to sell, the cohesion is nice... Pjanic is a very good addition to their MF..

You're referring to winning to the UCL, right? Because selling Pogba wouldn't really matter for Serie A.

In terms of Europe it's a huge factor.

I'm going off the assumption they would bring in a quality replacement, which I think isn't hard..
In actual production on the pitch, I'm not Pogba's biggest fan.. i think he is a very good player that has extremely unbelievable moments, but I rarely see him dominate for 90 mins... Not saying he won't get there, but I don't think yet..
I also think Morata is hugely over rated..

How many people do that on a regular basis, though?

Well, I would think an irreplaceable player in a teams attempt at a UCL title should, if not.. then I don't think he would be a huge factor... I say that because I don't feel like they have many weaknesses in their side currently..
To answer your question better, I'd think WC players do on a regular basis.. especially MF'ers

Like who, though? Name some names. We might have differing definitions of "dominate."
Posted on 7/24/16 at 1:55 pm to WarSlamEagle
dominate was the first that came to mind, but maybe a better term is control... and I'm thinking more CM as opposed to AM..
Modric, Busquets, Gundogan, Vidal, Mascherano (when played in MF with Arg), Rakitic..
In the not too distant past Xabi, Xavi, Gerrard, Lampard, Schweinsteiger, Iniesta, Cesc, Scholes, Pirlo...
Im sure there are a few more... Toure can when he feels like it.. Matuidi

How many players who see a ton of the ball actually play a full 90 minutes week in and week out as well?
I'd say Aguero does it fairly often, but he almost never plays a full 90.

Yeah, I think Pogba is a bit better than you do but I still agree that Juve wouldn't miss a step with Marchisio, Pjanic, Khedira in the deeper midfield + one or two other superstars they would bring in for the attacking midfield spot.
I agree about Morata. He has the attributes to be a complete, world class #9 but he's nowhere near as polished as Higuian at this point. Higuian has garnered a reputation for missing some sitters in huge situations and is far from the most likeable personality.
However, after watching him the past couple of seasons for a majority of matches, the guy is on a level that someone paying a lot for Morata is hoping he can reach in a couple of seasons.

I rate Higuain highly.. He is a huge upgrade over Morata...
Also, if I was going to give Juve all that money, I would spend it on Dybala over Pogba..

And you think all of those current dudes are better than Pogba?
Not sure if noted model of consistency Yaya Toure is going to help your argument if your problem is that Pogba doesn't "dominate" often enough.

Yaya Toure
Toure hasn't taken over a match in years.
He may take over a five-ten minute span, but an entire match, no.

Toure is a kind of good comparison. In the attack, Pogba is probably only as consistent as Yaya was a few years ago. Sometimes simply so dominant on a physical level that even the best world class deeper/box to box mids like Kroos or Strootman don't have in their games.
However, the one thing people often overlook about Pogba is that he's always 100x the defender in midfield than Yaya ever was. That he consistently does every single match.
The €120m appeal is that if starts putting up more consistent player of the year Yaya type performances attacking you are are getting that from one of the better defending box to box mids in the game.
Not really any mid you can name with that range of contribution.

Toure was more stream of thought... thats why I added the caveat...
edit: I see similarities between the two, but the inconsistencies are for different reasons IMO
yes, Id take all those over him and more, for his given price..
I'll put it another way.. I sell Pogba for €100mm and make a straight replacement in Pjanic for €30mm, every day of the week..
And I think getting Higuain is more integral in their push for the UCL, than the loss of Pogba..
All that said, I think he's a good player that can make any team better and he has a lot of potential..
It's really a win/win for Juve.. I just think they're in a good position to find out how bad United really want him and how deep in those pockets they are willing to go..

When he was at United, i was under the impression that he was a Defensive Midfielder and that was his future.. not until he started to emerge at Juve did I see him more B2B.. sometimes it seems he wants to be an AM, but I don't think thats where he fits best..

That wasn't the question. The question was if you thought all of those players were better than him. Sure, selling him for that and picking up Pjanic is the smarter move financially. But I don't see how every single one of those mids are better than him. But, hey, you're a Liverpool fan and I'm a United fan.
And I don't see where you think he wants to be an attacking midfielder. He plays too well on defense for that.
ETA: And I agree with what wm says, per usual. But I was saying that arguing Pogba needed to be more consistently dominant like Toure didn't make sense to me.
