95% of the media and fans were in full FAP mode. it was an amazement we even were able to sign him.
People forget what led up to it:
1. Defense front 7 balled out with JG and CJ leading the way.
2. Your safeties were a step in the wrong direction in coverage so they were late on making plays on the ball. They were the two lowest ranked safeties in the league while the front 7 were top 5.
3. Vaccaro balled out his rookie season
4. Byrd was one of the biggest ballhawks in the league at the time
