Why didn't Jane's dad flush/confiscate the heroin?

He just left his addict daughter holed up with a druggie punk with a bag of heroin.

Not that it necessarily made a difference, they could have bought more. But that's irresponsible.

Gilligan's first draft had Walt giving her a second dose of heroin and killing her that way, but he got voted down on that. Definitely better the way it ended up.

he was in a rage then a panic. He wasn't clear minded at all during the altercation.

Plus he was a failure of a father. He knew it so he shot himself.

I don't think so. I always thought it was ridiculous that Walt just happened to be there he exact moment she OD'd and choked on her own vomit. Him shooting her up and killing her is exactly something Heisenberg would do. Makes much more sense that way.

It's better for his descent into being a full blown monster to have been gradual. First person killed was necessity. Self defense. This one wasn't necessary directly, but he isn't active in her death. He just lets it happen. Then he starts dropping people when he gets more comfortable with the thought.

In all fairness, it was his fault she was turned on her back, the momentum he used to try and wake Jesse caused her to shift.

He inadvertently caused the snowball effect of her death. He could have put the same energy into rolling her back,...but he didn't.

Shaking Jesse rolled her over on her back. If he had never been there, then that probably would never have happened.

Not season 2 Heisenberg, I can see it in season 5 though.

One of the many beauties of BB was Walts transition over the course of the entire series. Go compare scenes of Walt dealing with the Crazy 8 debacle, to Jane's death, to telling Uncle Jack to "figure it out" with the prison murders. How Walt reacted to Jane dying was perfect for his character at that point in time.

When did her dad catch them? I thought that he didn't know it until it was to late?

He caught them the day before and she promised to go to rehab the next day.

But he saw the heroin in the bedroom with the needles.

Well in the draft before that one, he just walked in and raped everybody to death. Would you have preferred that?

The show was great because of its subtlety and slow character progression. The circumstances might not always be believable but the characters' reactions to them were. That was kinda the point.
