No clue. That was bad.
We went out of Campo's yesterday and caught specs (1/2 dozen), 2 limits of reds, 4 or 5 sheepshead, bunch of lady fingers (fun to fight but suck if they shite in the boat), and a dams small mouth bass.
Wasn't really happy about seeing that guy, but still cool considering our haul.

Did you say "small mouth bass"?

No smallmouth in LA. Promise you that
Wildlife and Fisheries say kisatchie bayou possibly could support them but there has never been one caught there

A couple years ago I saw a kid catch a bass in the boat launching basin at Bonnabel boat launch.

I'm pretty positive it would have been a largemouth. I don't think the spots get that far south.

Negative, sir. Smallmouth are at the extreme Southern edge of their range in the TN River.

I thought they have em in some northern Alabama lakes

I thought I had read somewhere before that Arkansas tried stocking a couple of lakes with Smallmouth but the habitat wouldn't support them and the numbers never really took off. Said there are still small numbers of them but not many are caught. Can't remember which lakes.

TN River runs throughout N AL. All the best Smallie lakes are through that stretch. I tear them up at Pickwick, on the TN-MS-AL border.

I miss fishing small creeks in PA for them.
When you catch a 18 inch fish in a tiny little creek its just incredible. Then sight fishing for them in lake erie is great too

Last year I caught bass on the bank of Lake Borgne. Nothing big but they were bass.
In this area if it has red eyes I would think it would be a Kentucky bass. They have a good bit of them in the rivers systems off lake maurepas and pontchtrain. Sometimes when the wind calms down in the late summer I have caught them in lake maurepas.

There are bass all over the marsh and all through all those areas you listed, but they're not small mouths. Marsh bass look a little different than pond bass. They're generally shorter and taller so it might've looked a little more smallmouth ish.

smallies are a little more brown in color to me. but it depends on the water clarity and structure as well.
I have caught some that change right before your eyes after pulling them from the water.

I'll be a solid gold cow turd if you caught a small mouth in the lake.

Caught some in Bayou Liberty last year and year before when we were catching specks from the bank.

Greers ferry, bull shoals, and beaver lake. You are right, numbers aren't great but they can be caught.
