Fwiw, I had to make a similar decision 10 yrs ago for law school.
Granted the in-state school was LSU and not ULM, but I'm happy I stayed in-state. I'm still paying off loans, but would be paying SIGNIFICANTLY more had I went out of state.
I also just lived in the middle of nowhere (way worse than Funroe) for 3 years. Sure there were times take-out and a bar would've been nice but those 3 yrs gave me the experience I needed to be marketable in places I would actually want to be.
Short-term sacrifice for long-term benefits.
