I've never had to take a shot beyond 500 yards in a real hunting situation. I have practiced out to 1500. This is just not at all a practical hunting distance for obvious ethical reasons, imo.
My point was that it's nice to know that your rifle, and hopefully your skill set, is up to the challenge.
