If you need to shoot past 300 yards you are a bad hunter.
I'd rather a .243 than a .300 for speed goats. If you want a new gun that's great, but talking about large caliber a like that for goats is trolling.

It's not uncommon for hunters to take longer shots if they have the caliber for it, 243 will work but I'd take a 308 before I take a 243
