Let's get this straight. Saban called the shots. Wanted to throw this out to all who think he is/was so hot and the sole reason behind our prior defensive success.

Look at what Auburn did this year on D, then compare our talent to theirs. Muschamp's Ds have been solid for years.

Saban may have called the shots when Muschamp was at LSU, but I don't think you can argue or deny the success he has had at Auburn.

Auburn defense ranks right up near the top in both total defense and scoring defense. Completely shut down McFadden and Jones. Contained Tebow for most of the game. Gave LSU fits for larger portions of that game.

Saban coached the D-Backs, Muschamp ran the D.

Saban was in on the game plan but Will ran the D.

and even IF saban called the shots and was the brains...

muschamp was supposed to have been under those brains for years and not have learned anything at all?

Muschamp is a great defensive mind as evidenced by the fact that he was the first coach Saban tried to hire after he accepted the Alabama job.

or considering their past, he knew muschamp would understand his system and do what he was told, like at LSU (im not saying muschamp isnt smart or good)

Ok, but Muschamp studied and learned from Saban like any asst coach will do under a good head coach. So he came out with more, and Auburn is benefiting from that apprenticeship.

There is a term.....overcoaches. Curly did this to all his coaches. Only brought the ones he could overcoach. Saban is much like that. Remember John Thompson who only lasted 2 weeks. From what has been witnessed at the coaches meetings, there was only one person speaking and that was Saban. Now.....when Dietzel and Cholly Mac were in meetings, they would go at it tooth and nail. It was jaw to jaw and cheek to cheek. Two heads were better than one and it worked. I would bet that Saban either called the D's are did in the beginning.

I guess that's why Bama lost 6 games this year, because Saban was busy calling Bama and Auburn's defense.

This thread is just stupid.
