Has the gutter punk angle been confirmed yet?
There are always about 20 people VISIBLE in the square that are sleeping or loaded at all hours. You know each one of them has some self defense objects? Knife, brick, pipes, sticks. In case their shite gets stolen or some wake up dope ends up missing. The whole thing sounds very homeless trashy. All in front of the prying tourist eyes.
Any locals, not trying to flame or anything. Are there any real numbers showing a drop in tourism or dollars spent? Beyond economy and inflation based? People of course travel less when economy sucks. But when the economy is good? Anybody in the city actually feeling the pinch?
I have not been to NOLA since 2012-13. Due to a baby now a son. Not due to economy or reports of violence. I'm too old to last past 11PM anymore anyway. And I prefer a stool in a "clean well lighted place" now anyway.
