Where to yak fish on the north shore?

I'll be in the Madisonville area Saturday morning and looking to do some fishing in Lake P for the first time. I was thinking about launching at the mouth of the Tchefuncte. Anyone ever had luck in this area? Or should I just make the drive to Slidell and fish the trestles?
I'd prefer to stay in the Madisonville area if at all possible.

You can yak fish anywhere you need to, but it may be frowned upon if done on certain things/ people.

You can catch rat reds along the shore on the right side of the mouth, past the sunken boat

Bayou Lacombe is a good spot, can put in along the road or at the mouth, lots of marsh to fish and access to lake

OP, how'd you do out of the Tchefuncte? I was out there this past weekend on a kayak. Fished a little, but I didn't get a bite. I like that location because of the restaurants on the Tchefuncte if the lake were to get too rough, but finding some fish would be a nice bonus.

I ended up driving out to fish the trestles. Caught a few trout early, but the bite died later in the morning
