I usually like to let Darwin handle these things. If a dogs not smart enough to stay out of the road then shite happens.

Maybe mine get hit because I get them from the pound.

That's fine and all... except for the people who could potentially hit your dogs because you don't keep them out of the road.

You'll get hammered for that statement, but there is some truth to it.

It's like people who say, "Don't let the dog out. He'll run away."

You ever stop to think it ain't meant to be? If he doesn't want to be there, why hold him hostage? He knows where he gets fed... He'll either come back or he won't.

By keeping a dog on lock down, you drive his instinct to escape even more. Give him some freedom, and if he survives, he'll listen better and hang close to "the pack".
