The Pelicans will have to overpay to get someone to come here.

They just need to throw out a max contract at Batum or Barnes and look to pick up a G in the draft. Do not bring back Cole, Anderson, or Gordon. Figure out a long term plan for Evans.

Base your team on Holiday, Davis, and Batum/Barnes.

i just don't think barnes is a guy we can overpay for. he'd fit and would be solid but i don't think he has "top starter" potential (i mean that where he's sub-All Star level but a really good starter). it's just a scary proposition due to the new landscape of the NBA salary cap (and that admittedly exists with most potential acquisitions).

i think barnes can be a 15-16 ppg guy on a team like our's and he's solid on D. he's a pretty good 3 point shooter. the gamble is that are those guys going to be getting those major contracts? is there going to be a mini-bubble due to the big cap money that will hurt us in a few years? that's teh gamble

the "money ball" move is to try to trade for assets under "old cap" contracts and roll the dice there
