Buford Georgia Restaurants?

I have to meet people somewhere around I-85/20. Think there is a mall there. Is there anything decent for dinner close by? I don't have to entertain anyone so doesn't really matter. Probably by myself or maybe one other.
Also what the hell I need somewhere to stay too. I'm assuming the basic interchange hotels are available?

Wish I could provide some insight. Mall of Georgia is right there and you are right-lots of interchange hotels. Courtyard etc.
It is a really commercially developed area and every chain imaginable is there. Just can't help you with good local places.

There is a PF Changs at the Mall.
Taco Mac has good wings and good selection of beer.

I live not far from there ... it's a mall comparable to the Mall of Louisiana, (it's actually called the Mall of Georgia)and like Tigertown said, all the usual chains and hotels are all around there.
Only spot I would recommend is Provino's ... decent Italian restaurant. Nothing too fancy, but solid food nonetheless. My Sicilian grandparents would eat it. It's one of only two Italian places we regularly eat at out here. There's also a burger and shake joint over there ... craft burger type place ... Burger 21.

Have La friends that live there for ages, and always feel horrible for them when visiting and dining. Because for an area full of McMansion wealth, it like much of Atl's outer burbs is Bubbaville(even Mall of Ga..etc..)..and/or full of transplanted Yankees that cant't cook nor foodies..
The answer to your question though, is Aqua Terra Bistro in downtown Buford, a small gem, nice southern atmosphere, quality fare..I think even Martini would like it. It's the only thing I've really liked in that neck of the wood over the last 20 yrs.

Are you in Buford or near 85/20? Because those are two different places. If you're near Buford proper Parma Tavern is legit. It's near the 85/985 split. If you're actually by 85/20 that's basically downtown Atlanta.

There is a state highway 20 up there. It is the Mall exit. That is what I am assuming.

I don't know about Bubbaville, but the entire northern arc from Kennesaw to Buford is a culinary wasteland, relatively speaking.
Sure there are lots of great restaurants up there, but even higher income people love their chains.

The best thing I've found since moving here (Lawrenceville) is the wide array of different ethnic cuisines:
Jamaican
Indian
Afghan
Korean
Pakistani
Colombian
Peruvian
Philippino
Dominican
African
... and the usuals,
Japanese
Chinese
Thai
Vietnamese
Mexican
Greek
Italian,
... but some solid quality places.

I can buy into your top list even though I have not had much of any of those types of food in ATL other than Indian.
However, I have not found a Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese or Italian restaurant that I would feel comfortable recommending.
Not that I don't have some of those that I go to, but none that I can strongly recommend.

There's a Korean BBQ restaurant about every 50 feet down Buford Hwy. Pick one, they're all the same and all good from my experience.

Afghan is very similar to Indian and Pakistani with slight variations and a few signature dishes. It's like Vietnamese/Thai similar.
My current go to for that end of the culinary spectrum is a hole in the wall named Asma's. It's off of Old Norcross and Breckenridge, right where Old Norcross is about to cross over 85.
There'd Nan-N-Curry on the front corner, visible from Old Norcross (decent but not that good ish) ... the next building that forms an "L" with that building, you go down the hill and around the back to the other side ... and there it is.
They have a decent lunch buffet for like 6 bucks. I've found that Halal businesses are better suited for buffets, because it seems as though their beliefs don't allow them to prepare a lot and let it sit. It's maybe 10 items and they're fresh and hot.
It's a true hole in the wall (foam plates and plastic utensils) ... but a great spot to get a good quick hot plate of food for 6 bucks.
