What about a heavy .38 snub nose? Does not need to be some light weight allow.
I've shot a buddies 380LCP, and I get what you are saying regarding weight. That little bastard comes alive in your hand. The lack of weight and nose weight creates a torque on the wrist.
I envision something a cop would carry in 1975. Or more a detective. Heavy but comfy and will always go BANG.

For a home defense gun, what advantage(s) does a heavy snub nose have over a full size steel revolver? All things being equal, a snub nose revolver will be challenging to shoot than a full size revolver.
