Being charged May and June rent when moving in?

Seems odd to me. They specifically said it wasn't last month rent or security deposit. They said that they required a full month rent when someone moves in but the prorated fee means they will charge me for my first two months. Is this unusual?

When in May are you moving in?

Never heard of that. So they essentially want 3 months rent upfront (deposit included)?

Depends on your move in date

I've always paid deposit and first month's rent, and I've lived in 7 different places. Be weary of CL scammers

I do agree that is a little odd...just be sure that you will not be paying another cent until July and I think you are good.
It sounds to me like these folks have had a lot of people say they wanted to move in and then back out at the last minute leaving the place vacant for a month.
Another thing to clarify on any rental is how much notice you have to give when you leave.
