Grandpa is very sick and going to the hospital to a special hospital to get ready to go to heaven.
Your son is very young anyways. Proceed as you see fit. My godfather died when I was 3 and I have no recollection of the events leading up to his death or his funeral. Sometimes the less information the better at that age.
