My ex girlfriend's sister had a doozy of a year. In a one year period her best friend died in a car crash, her boyfriend died of some rare infection that caused both of his lungs to simultaneously collapse, her grandmother died, and her sister committed suicide.
Current girlfriend also had a tough go of things back in high school. She lost two of her grandparents, her mother (cancer), and her aunt (suicide) all in a short span of time. I have a lot of admiration for people who persevere in the face of such tragedy.

There is a poster on here who goes by rebeloke who has had a series of some of the worst threads in history. Can't imagine what his family must be going through

My best friend passed away at the age of 36 from cancer and then I had to take my little brother off life support a year later. That was a year ago. I have a different view of life now for sure.

I had to take out a lot of my retirement money to pay for her to go to rehab and for us to live off of.
Damn, that sounds awful. Did you guys end up parting ways?

My best friend lost his son to suicide three weeks ago. Talking to him afterward he lost a son 10 years ago when his ex wife was driving drunk, wrecked and killed his 15 year old son. The suicide was a .45 to the temple in the house when both parents were home. Extremely gruesome and the kid videotaped it. I don't know how anyone goes on and functions afterward.
Some friends lost two sons to suicide in about a year's time. Both were had severe, treatment resistant bipolar disorder. The mom became a crusader for mental illness awareness after the first suicide. After the second, she kind of went into a shell as best I can determine.

Yes. I went to marriage counseling for a year after all that happened. She only went with me once. Her excuse was she wasn't in her right mind, so I should just get over it. I got tired of feeling like I was fighting alone to save my marriage, and it made me very bitter.
