Facebook Earnings Wednesday - Beat- yes or no?

I admit that I'm a huge advocate of FB (as a company and stock hold). It pisses me off that they are getting beat up today because of Alphabet. I think MZ is the new Steve Jobs and is in a different stratosphere compared to Google.
That being said. Will they be up or down on estimates? Anybody follow them closely? I need to recover from the last few weeks!

If I'm going to buy a company that has no assets to speak of and is overvalued, I'm going AMZN everyday.

the tired no asset response is a plague when talkin FB. Overvalued is very possible

Well, when your Tobin's Q is 0.1x, it's going to be brought up.

The world needs more FB and Twitter. Instagram as well. It should be used at work everyday, by employees not working, but twiting, or twatingn or instaing, or facing.

What else are you bullish on?
I want to sell everything you list.
FB is a long term dud.

Yeah. Yeah.
At one time, you would have said the same for MySpace right?

Something tells me white shirt Tom isn't comparable to MZ. And FB is much more than a social site.
VR might be good this time around and that's an asset.
I imagine FB could rewrite tech like appl did with devices

I guess. The data seems to suggest Facebook is being abandoned by the millinnials. I know my Facebook is 2 ads for every 1 post. And half of those posts are "31 things you never knew about blah"
Nobody is going to pay for a membership and if they ever force pop up ads, kiss it bye bye and a new platform will pop up.
But that's just my opinion.

Our company spent $5000 in 2014 boosting ads on FB because of our large number of followers.
This past year, we are spending $5000 a month boosting on FB. We are advertising for 10 restaurants. Our FB followers have also doubled since 2014. We actively run promotion to gain followers.
The best way to reach the younger folks is through FB boosting. It has been very successful.
The no assets is a good argument, but the real facts are in the advertising dollars.

It's is not expensive to boost promotions because we can select the number for guests we are attempting to reach. For $20, we can reach 2000 followers. For $50, we can reach 8000 followers directly, and if it's a popular promotion with the guests, they will share with unlimited FB folks. It does the job much better that an $850 ad with the Advocate. We only advertise with the advocate when we are promoting a special for 50 year olds and up.

So what does it do? It puts an ad on my feed? Guarantees impressions?

FB will no longer allow business to promote. If we manufacture a post about a promotion, it might reach 100 of our 10k followers. So now FB forces businesses to boost their posts. Depending on the amount of followers needed to be reached is the amount of money that needs to be spent. This is one of their revenue streams, which is cheap for the business to directly reach their customer base.

Tech giant Facebook crushed analyst estimates when it reported first-quarter results on Wednesday
quote:
The company reported adjusted first quarter earnings of 77 cents per share on revenue of about $5.38 billion. Analysts had expected Facebook to report earnings of about 62 cents per share on $5.26 billion in revenue, according to a consensus estimate from Thomson Reuters. In fact, Facebook's earnings per share figure was 10 percent better than the highest estimate of 41 Wall Street analysts. Shares in the company jumped about 9 percent in after-hours trading following the announcement. If Facebook were to open at those levels on Thursday, it would easily exceed its all-time high share price of $117.59. Facebook also said it was proposing the creation of new class C shares. If the proposal is approved, shareholders would get two C shares for each class A or class B share they own. This would potentially allow Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to sell some of his shares while still maintaining control of the company.

Good for the employees and investors in FB. I totally thought FB was dead in the water back when the IPO had all sorts of issues. Yea, $120 a share!
