Explain to him that change in speed is better, teach him a cutter after his change is good. using the 4 seam, 2 seam, change and cutter are all thats needed.. If hes insistent on ball movement then look to a knuckle change but not a knuckle ball.

Well I'm sure that almost all dads want their son to be the best on his team. But that doesn't mean that we'll go to ridiculous lengths to make it happen.
As to your question, 11 years old is too early. 14 is the best age for that. Also, keep working on the change up with him. I'd rather a pitcher have a dirty change up than curveball. A good change up is absolutely lethal.
