Public education in Louisiana is a abject failure based on every single metric. On top of that, school systems have large budgets, which means excessive amounts of system-wide waste, at best, and fraud at worst.

Charters can't possibly be worse than regular schools/school systems, and at least the financial failure of one charter doesn't impact other charters.

Anyone who lives in Louisiana and thinks traditional schools are the "best" or "proper" choice are fricking retards. My .02.

Charter schools are a scam. I have worked closely with them. What they do is they kick out all the bad kids and kids that score low on a pre test designed to mimic the actual state test. They keep the kids just long enough to get the money and get rid of them before they reflect poorly on their school grade. Also, just last year the largest charter system in New Orleans was just busted by giving the state test, realizing the students were not going to score well on it, so they then taught the stuff on it for 2-3 weeks and regave the test.

It depends what the demographics are of each respective school district.
