I'd like to semi retire at 60 and then just do a few consulting jobs each year to maintain some tax write offs for expenses and some travel.
You're right about keeping busy doing something to stay sharp but hopefully I can do that volunteering for charities and several mission trips each year, at least that's how I'd like to keep myself busy outside of traveling.

Me too, but who knows what health insurance will cost people who actually work for a living in 20 years.

My company has a retirement plan option if you want to retire at 55. Years ago I asked a guy I work with that was 54 years old if he planned on retiring at age 55. I still laugh at his response, "Nope, but I plan to quit working."

This is me too. My wife retired this past year at age 51. I have a goal of 55 or 56, and then I want to be able to volunteer more and go on mission trips with my church.
