Alcatraz is amazing, make sure to get tickets early, don't expect to just walk up and get tickets. The night tour is probably already sold out, but having done both, the day tour is still awesome and more of the island is open. Walking around the city is the way to go. Good luck getting warrior playoff tickets, unless your a ot billionaire. Book dinner at house of prime rib on van ness, make sure to get reservations. Take ferry to Sausalito and take bus to Muir Woods, probably best thing to do. Golden gate park is also pretty cool.

Definitely going to do Alcatraz. My wife only has one afternoon/evening in SF. Should I take her on to tour or do that myself and do the other touristy things with her?

I'll 2nd House of Prime Rib - My co-worker choked on his dinner and had to have the heimlich. A manager ran in as everyone stared in silence and enthusiastically said "It's ok everybody he just loved his prime rib THAT much, enjoy the rest of your meals!"

Other places I liked:
Tadich Grill
Magnolia Gastro Pub for breakfast/brunch
Yank Sing
Lers Ros Thai
Tony's Pizza (went here hammered after the lsu/wisc game - it's right next to the lsu alumni bar Northstar Cafe)

Ferry Building - ferry to Sausalito for lunch
Spend very little time at Fisherman's Wharf, it's all tourists
