What they first need to realize is that Bond is not Jason Bourne. He's smooth and a badass, but he would be killed quickly if he were facing Bourne's stakes or villains.
Secondly, camp is fine, but you can't have such a degree of connectivity that you lose the audience. So not only is Blofeld James Bond adoptive brother,and not only is he connected to Bond's last few villains, but of all of them how does Silva fit into all this? That is never remotely explained. Silva was a mad dog who was clearly solely after M and could only frick up Blofeld's plans. I doubt Blofeld wouldn't have killed him if he were working for him. It was just lazy screenwriting.

Kind of weird that they went with an Austin Powers twist when Austin Powers is a James Bond parody.

This would require Hollywood to solve their second problem....
A good Bond story.
But since Ian Fleming is long since dead and all Hollywood seems to be able to do is recycle and tweak the novels to the point now...
Where the movie story sucks so bad they have to action it up to over the top to fill screen time.
And that's why we get Bourne.
