Looking at buying one of these on eBay. Will this allow me to stream free movies and watch live sports. Looking to cancel my cable and wondering how this is.

Wouldn't get a stick
Just get the fire tv and put KODI on it yourself

I don't know how to put it on there. I'd rather buy it preloaded. Is it that much difference between the stick and the box

Yeah its a lot faster and you can hardwire it, which is a big difference in streaming

It's beyond simple. Although you may have to spend an hour or so downloading the apps you'll need such as Exodus and Sportsdevil and reading on the web how to install them. Even if you buy a box with them preinstalled, at some point you will need to learn how to install apps as the the lifespan of any given app is dependent on the individual developer. Those developers get bored with the upkeep of apps and abandon them sometimes. So you have to install whatever the hot new app is at the time. And FYI, The firestck doesn't have to be jailbroken to install KODI. You can install straight out of the box.

Can the box run thru wifi or does it have to be hard wired ?

It can run on wifi. If I were you I'd do it myself. It'll be cheaper and any future maintenance you will be able to do it. I've walked a 50 something year old woman with very little technical know how. You can watch YouTube videos that'll explain it or go to tvaddons.ag and they will have a walk-through.

Just install the beast.

Having both, I'd say get the Fire TV. It's much faster and maintains a better connection to my wifi.

That does look pretty bad arse. I'm very intrigued. Can you add additional streaming apps like HULU, HBO Go, etc.?

I bit the bullet and ordered the Fire box with all the stuff preloaded. We'll see how it goes.

I have a Fire Stick, and I have Kodi, and you can't watch whatever movie you want when you want to... you have to depend on somebody, somewhere streaming something they're not supposed to be streaming. I have watched a lot of not-so-legal movies, however.
And live sports, if you can get the event you want, are low quality, iffy streams.
Other than all that, you can't beat the price and the variety is great.
I agree with the poster who said you should by the Fire TV over the Fire Stick. To enjoy your movies you'll want to download them first for viewing later, and your Stick fills up fast.

when you get the stuff in the little keyboard comes with a small usb wireless thing in the battery compartment. Plug that into the side usb port on the box and the keyboard will work that way. Took me a while to figure that out

thanks for the heads up. I hope Kodi doesn't buffer on this like it does on the stick.
