. I also don't miss any practices, games, holidays, etc. So which one of us sees our family more again?

This is the key for me. I rarely ever miss a family event and love being able to attend all of the kids stuff including school and church stuff. I really feel bad for my friends and family that are gone for Christmas, thanksgiving , and a lot of other family events.

I'm not sure if it's just that there are quite a few uneducated people in the "shift work" jobs or just the strain it puts on families, but there is a high divorce rate. A distant relative of mine who spends a month at at time overseas doing oil rig work was bragging not long ago and trying to get my to join him due to all of the money. Last month he found out his wife has been cheating on him.

I will say, there are way too many people who shite on the plant workers and rig guys on here. I'm very thankful that these industries are around and provide some very good job in a state/region where there aren't many.

It goes both ways though. There were plenty of operators touting all their money and lack of student loans for a good long time. A lot of the shite they catch they had coming to them.
