The schedule for production technicians is shift work. You work 36hrs one week and 48hrs the next. You have 8 hours built in OT every check but only working 36 in one week sort of balances the 8hrs off.

Holidays pay OT but the majority of the extra $20-30k a year comes from working OT. When you work 3 or 4 days a week regular schedule and pick up 1 day of OT a week you still only work 4 or 5 days a week and you pile up the OT. So yes OT is where the money is at but if you do it right you don't live out there. Pick up a day or two each paycheck and by the end of the year you $100+.
